A teenager from Gazipur has been rescued from an apartment in Chattogram, where she was sold into sexual exploitation after being lured by a false romantic pretense. This rescue operation was carried out thanks to the initiative and support of journalist Tuhin Sarwar.

The teenager was employed in a garment factory in Gazipur. She was enticed by promises of romance and taken to Chattogram, where she was confined in an apartment and forced into sex work. Despite multiple attempts to escape, she was repeatedly subjected to abuse by members of the trafficking ring and coerced into returning.

After the teenager went missing, her brother reached out to journalist Tuhin Sarwar for assistance. Tuhin Saroar provided support and guidance, leading to the filing of a General Diary (GD) at the Chandgaon Police Station on December 3, 2023.

Journalist Tuhin Sarwar contacted a person from the teenager’s Facebook friend list. Confirming the location of the teenager, Tuhin Saroar set a trap for the targeted individual. With the cooperation of the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Doublemooring Thana, he successfully rescued the teenager on January 11, 2024.

The rescued teenager reported that she had been regularly beaten and subjected to inhumane treatment when refusing to participate in sex work.

This successful humanitarian effort by journalist Tuhin Sarwar is a testament to his commitment to human rights and social justice. He has previously been involved in rescuing other trafficked girls and supporting them.
